Bexley's Issues

1)

City Finances

Short, intermediate and long-range planning for the city's future needs, and beginning now to explore creative, alternative, and appropriate funding sources for those needs.

2)

City Services

(a) Providing City services within reasonable budget parameters in order to maintain current tax rates, but to re-think the funding for capital improvements in order to spread the cost over a reasonable period of time.

b) Rely less upon paid (and expensive) consultants and more on the talents of those         residents willing to provide their knowledge, expertise, and time in the many areas in which they excel.

Public Safety and Security

(a) Maintain a strong police force, properly equipped to provide the highest safety and security for everyone in Bexley.

(b) Encourage block watch, school safety programs and security for our senior citizens.

Property Values

Work with City Council by recommending action that will place Bexley at the forefront of suburban communities in providing city services, fixing and maintaining its infrastructure, taking as much pride in the appearance of the City as the residents do in their homes, and inviting development and commerce into the City by encouraging friendly assistance in helping to achieve mutual goals, while still maintaining appropriate controls.

Business Support

Re-energize the Chamber of Commerce in its efforts to assist Bexley business.

6)

Governance

Continue to explore alternative ways of governing the City.  Revisit the debate   regarding Mayor vs. City Manager and assessing its pros and cons.

7)

Attitude

Create an atmosphere of mutual respect, helpfulness and guidance on all the boards and commissions which touch all aspects of life in Bexley.
